Writing about the 2006 model (the same as the ‘07), Cycle World said:
“Since its introduction in 2001, the FZ1 has been one of our favorite motorcycles, earning that year’s Best Open-Class Streetbike award in Cycle World’s Ten Best Bikes balloting. Based on first impressions and the fact that Yamaha has improved upon that same formula for success, it seems very likely that this latest FZ1 will continue to be one of the motorcycles that people love to ride. Anytime. Anywhere.”
And that description is correct. This is, though, a brutal bike–essentiallly the R1 with an upright seating position and no fairing (although it does have a small bikini fairing that does a decent job of diverting the worst of the wind blast around you). This is an awesome bike. It is not, however, the bike for me. I’ve had many, many bikes, both sport and cruisers. I thought I wanted another sport bike, but now I realize I really want a cruiser. Frankly, I’m concerned that this is more bike than I am rider. If you are a new rider, do not bid on this bike–it is not designed for you.
As they say, my loss is your gain. With the exception of obvious slight tire wear from use, this is essentially a new bike. I did change the oil to synthetic recently. My bike is the dark metalic blue–not the black pictured–and the wheels are black, too.
Please do not contact me about shipping. I will help with that by delivering the bike to a local depot if necessary, but you are responsible for the details. Reserve is reasonable considering that I anticipate losing money on this transaction. Buyer must understand that although the bike has a clear title as in no liens, it is the bank’s bike that I am still paying on. That means that you as the buyer buys the bike, and I pay off the bank before the title can be transfered.
